South African singer-songwriter Lady Zamar is boldly stepping into a new chapter of afrobeats with her upcoming album, Emperor Eclipse: Realm 1 – Awakening.

Speaking to 947’s Anele and The Club, she explained that it is a conceptual album that reflects her growth and transformation.

She also delves into the world of afrobeats, which, though challenging, she has always had a passion for.

“A lot of the popular genres right now, writing well is the problem. You need to find a very creative way to still be great in what you’re saying, but overly simplified.

“I had to get writers to help me out, I had to learn some of the lingo… It’s a fun thing for me as a person who studied literature; breaking English is really fun,” she said.

With her new music, she hopes to help people understand the complexities of love and relationships, making this album a must-listen.

“If you are struggling to figure out what love is, this project is for you... it awakened parts of me, I feel like I transformed in the process of this project.”
