Joburg Water promises to install new pipeline to improve supply in Westbury & surrounding areas

Joburg Water has committed to start building a new water pipeline next Monday to assist the main system supplying Westbury and surrounding areas.

The utility, alongside Mayor Dada Morero addressed frustrated residents who briefly disrupted the engagement in Coronationville on Thursday.

The pipe, which will take up to three weeks to install, is set to draw water from the Crosby reservoir, which has high water pressure.

The effort comes as the main water system supplying Westbury, Coronationville and surrounding areas has failed to build up enough supply to fully restore water to the area.

"The plan includes to undertake under-pressure drilling and laying approximately 200m to connect to these two pipes; the work is expected to start on Monday the 22nd," said Morero.
